⎪Sting Ray Pier is an interactive installation within Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve that educates the public and in particular children about California Round Stingrays and how to avoid them when in the ocean in an interactive way, while at the same time giving visitors the chance to directly observe Round stingrays in their natural environment in a safe way that is non-threating to both the stingrays and the human observer. The pier is wheel chair assessable above the shallow water of the tidal basin with direct access from the parking lot. In plan view it is an abstracted Round Stingray. Within the deck of the pier the eyes of the stingray are each plexi glass observation points where visitors can look directly down upon passing stingrays. Seating is integrated around the perimeter of the pier. Interactive stingray replicas and stingray info are integrated into the of pier.
